Principal's Message
Hello Jaguar Family!
It is an absolute honor and joy to have the opportunity to serve the students and staff of Barren County as the principal of North Jackson Elementary! I am incredibly grateful that our paths have led us here together-whether you are a student, a parent, a staff or community member, or are here seeking information for future educational decisions- Welcome! I am incredibly grateful to have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring not only the academic needs of all our Jaguars are met, but the social, emotional, mental and behavioral health goals of all our students are prioritized as well. I am privileged to follow a legacy of previous great leaders at NJE, and am fully committed to continuing our long-standing traditions of academic excellence and offering high-quality leadership opportunities for all, with a growth mindset focused on inclusion.
I have been honored to be a part of the Barren County family, as an employee, for nearly 15 years, and as a community member for nearly 40. My entire professional career has been spent in service at North Jackson Elementary- first as a classroom teacher of 5th Grade Reading and Writing, then as assistant principal, and now as the third principal of our beautiful and successful school. I am proud to play an integral part in our district's mission and vision of servitude in engineering opportunities to create success, while mentoring our students to become life ready.
At North Jackson, our staff has a strong shared vision and common goal of being leaders and innovators in our field. Our crew of highly skilled and relatable professionals practice collaborative, open-door policies with parents and the community, and continually strive to provide an all around stellar school experience for all stakeholders. We vow to know your kids, love your kids, protect your kids, and prioritize their safety.
We will learn & grow, laugh & play together, not only as students of reading, writing, science, social studies, and math, but as human beings, stewards of our school, and citizens of our community. We will set and meet goals both inside and outside the classroom walls, celebrating each success with gratitude to Barren County Schools for creating a district infrastructure that provides countless opportunities, fosters growth, cultivates community, and leads by example.
We are looking forward to building upon the traditions that are the cornerstones of our school culture in the coming academic year. As a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, we will continue to foster leadership potential with the 8 habits, and grow the whole child mentality with skills, mindsets, attitudes and feelings that help our students not only succeed in their given grade level, but in their lives. We make transparent, student-centered, data-driven decisions that offer heart along with humanity, and we implement thoughtful and careful discipline policies that operate on the principle that every behavior communicates a need. We non-negotiably build relationships, demonstrate respect and responsibility, and through strong counselor connections, intentional partnerships with mental health professionals, and collaboration with expert district staff we help students build a toolbox of coping strategies and self regulation skills to help ease the stressors of issues outside the classroom that may affect our students academically.
Please rest assured that whether you are already a member of our family, as a student, staff, or parent, or are considering joining us in the future, that the entire staff and I are personally and professionally invested in our continued growth and trajectory of excellence, empowerment, and inclusion at NJE. We each strive daily for, and want nothing more than to leave a lasting Jaguar legacy of leadership. Thank you for allowing us to work alongside each of you! We eagerly and enthusiastically anticipate building upon our relationships and partnerships as we continue to Dream, Believe, Lead and Achieve at North Jackson Elementary!
