• Absences: If your child will be out, please give the school a quick call to let us know. It helps us keep everything up to date and makes sure teachers are in the loop!
• Returning After an Illness: When your child comes back to school, please remember to send in a doctor’s note or parent excuse so we can mark the absence as excused. You can also submit excuses online — just head to barren.kyschools.us, scroll to “Report an Absence,” select your child’s school, and upload your note right from there.
Each student has six parent notes per school year (one note covers one day). Not sure how many you’ve used? No worries — just call the school office, and we’ll be happy to check for you!

We kindly ask that you avoid messaging teachers during the school day — they’re busy working with students and may not see messages in time. Hey families! We could use your help to keep our afternoon pickup running safely and smoothly. Please remember not to drive around the car rider line to get to the side parking lot for Door 17 pickup (Preschool & Kindergarten).
We know everyone’s in a hurry at the end of the day (we totally get it!), but cutting around the line can create unsafe traffic situations for our students and staff. Sticking to the regular car line helps keep everyone safe — especially our little ones!

We are so excited to celebrate our first set of Golden Jaguars this week for exhibiting the October Character Trait for A Profile of a Trojan: Initiative! These students were nominated by their teachers for showing initiative with this week's focus of “Managing Time Effectively.” We look forward to seeing what students will be Golden Jaguars next week for “Taking Action Without Direction.”

If you want your child to receive their flu shot at school, please fill this form out and return it no later than Friday, October 17, 2025. Flu shots will be given on Thursday October 23, 2025 at North Jackson Elementary. Thank you!
